Lower Brule Veterans

Dedicated to honoring our past, present, and future veterans.

World War I

This is a picture of my grandfather, James P Langdeaux. He served in France in the infantry and rec'd the Purple Heart Medal, among others. He was also the brother of Mike Jandreau's grandfather. At one time he was foreman of the Ranch on Lower Brule. He married Lucy (Blackbird) Langdeaux and they lived at Lower Brule, & between Dallas, Dixon and Gregory. Their children were; Clarence, Howard, Lawrence (Bud), Earl, Francis, Melvin & my mother, Marie. Grandpa Jim died in the Veterans Hospital in 1959 due to injuries rec'd while serving in France, during what was called, the Great War- It was hailed as, "the War to end all Wars", due to the millions that were killed. He was & is loved by all who knew him. He is buried in the cemetery about a mile west of Dallas on Hwy 18, and about a half mile north.
